You may want to install Webmedia Explorer on your PC or on a remote hosting. In both cases you have to make sure Apache has the mod_rewrite activated (in order to being able to process links) and PHP has the GD library activated (in order to being able to manipulate images). Also make sure that AllowOverride is On (in order that Apache reads local .htaccess files).
Once you are sure this is working just download the zip, unzip it and you will find the following subfolders:
cache/
css/
htdocs/
includes/
templates/
Make sure that cache and htdocs/thumbs folders have write permissions.
The best it would be that Apache sees the htdocs folder as the document root
but anyway, Webmedia Explorer can work this way but also as the parent
directori being the document root. Both sceneries will work (a lot of
hostings surprisingly only let you access a document root folder).
Now you can change administration username and password and a lot of default variables by editing the config.lib.php file in the root. Experiment.
Log
in and use the contextual menu by right-clicking on the name of an
element, be it a folder, file, image, link in order to edit.
